Supercomputing India SCI2025 is the inaugural edition of the annual HPC conference, organised by leading HPC centres in India in collaboration with partners, and supported by National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) — a visionary initiative to empower India’s scientific and strategic communities by establishing a robust indigenous supercomputing ecosystem. With the theme HPC, AI, & Quantum Computing SCI2025 aims to foster a collaborative HPC ecosystem in India and Asia. It will serve as a global platform for connecting thought leaders from academia, industry, and the public sector. The upcoming SCI2025 conference promises a wealth of engaging activities and discussions.
C-DAC is the premier R&D institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, driving innovation in HPC, Information Technology and Electronics. C-DAC was established in 1988 with the mission to build indigenous supercomputing capabilities. This led to the creation of PARAM 8000, India’s first supercomputer. Since then, C-DAC has built multiple generations of supercomputers and continues to lead India’s National Supercomputing Mission. In addition, C-DAC has pioneered initiatives in Indian language computing, software technologies, applied electronics, and embedded systems.
Over the years, it has expanded into critical domains such as health informatics, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and AI, creating a vibrant innovation ecosystem aligned with national priorities. C-DAC also plays a vital role in capacity building through its nationwide education and training programs, addressing the evolving needs of India’s technology workforce. As a technology enabler for the nation, C-DAC remains at the forefront of strategic R&D to deliver on India’s digital vision and advance self-reliance in critical technologies.

National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) represents one of the most transformative initiatives in the country’s technology landscape. Jointly steered by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and implemented by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) alongside the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the mission seeks to significantly enhance the nation’s computational infrastructure and research capabilities. At its core, NSM aims to empower academic and research institutions across the country by creating a robust, interconnected grid of high-performance computing (HPC) facilities.
The mission envisions installing more than 70 state-of-the-art supercomputing systems at premier institutions, spanning diverse scientific disciplines and enabling cutting-edge research and innovation. This massive distributed HPC ecosystem will enable researchers to tackle complex computational problems that were previously out of reach, ranging from climate modelling and drug discovery to material science and artificial intelligence. National Supercomputing Mission is a cornerstone initiative designed to accelerate scientific discovery and technological innovation, empower India’s research community, and elevate the country’s position in the global high-performance computing landscape.
